How Direct Pay Works
DermDirect is a direct pay dermatology clinic, which means we keep your care simple, transparent, and affordable by not billing insurance. Instead, you pay at the time of your visit using convenient electronic payment options. This direct model allows us to focus on providing expert dermatology care without the delays, denials, or hidden costs that often come with insurance-based billing.
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards. By using electronic payments only, we streamline the check-in and check-out process, ensuring a quick and hassle-free experience.
With direct pay, you’ll always know the cost of your visit up front—no surprise bills weeks later. Whether you’re coming in for acne treatment, eczema care, a rash evaluation, or a skin cancer screening, you’ll receive high-quality dermatology care with transparent pricing.
All major credit cards and Apple Pay accepted – pay your way.
Lab Testing & Billing
For some dermatology problems, your derm provider may recommend lab testing, such as skin cultures or bloodwork, or a biopsy which allows a pathology doctor to examine a piece of tissue under a microscope. Blood tests may be completed at the lab of your choice, including our neighbor ReforMedicine, or any qualified lab testing center/clinic you choose. Urine pregnancy testing is done in house at DermDirect. Cultures and scrapings (to look for infection), and tissue samples taken during biopsies are processed through DermDirect’s trusted laboratory partner.
Biopsies, cultures, and certain other tests may involve “reflex testing.” This means that if an initial test result suggests more information is needed, (example: Immuno-Histochemistry, a special stain to rule out melanoma, a dangerous cancer) the lab will run the additional tests to provide the most accurate results. The need for these additional tests is determined by “reflex”, such that under certain circumstances, the additional testing is done routinely. DermDirect providers will not know for certain whether reflex testing will occur. We can provide some information about pricing for reflex tests, but since these tests are only done under certain conditions seen under the microscope by the pathologist, it is not possible for us to predict with certainty which reflex tests may be needed at the time of a biopsy or other tissue collection.
